To help you begin to build the skills of understanding your opponent in argument. This builds in skills like thinking objectively, critically, and rhetorically. To help you learn to form arguments with academic objectivity/distance -- this assignment and many others will ask you to evaluate and accept the merit of an opponent's argument, whether you agree or disagree personally. Assignment Directions: 1. Choose an issue that you know a LOT about. Make sure the issue that you choose has at least two sides to it (pro/anti). Try not to choose anything too obscure. 2. Choose a side on the issue. 3. You are making the SAME argument in THREE different ways. 4.
