Keywords are words or phrases that show what you are researching and how you will do it. In general, keywords assist in reducing the number of search results (Tracy, 2019). The following ideas are often (but only sometimes) linked to research questions that can be answered by qualitative evidence. Why? In contrast to quantitative research, qualitative research tries to determine why people have the preferences, attitudes, and actions they do (Tracy, 2019). Qualitative inquiry is often the first step in determining what happened, including motives, complicated interactions, and strange behavior (SAGE Publications, 2020). Reasons: The causes of a quantitative result or the reasons why something happens are examples of things that can change how people act. Describe: To comprehend a situation; explanations are typically discovered by observing and questioning individuals. When you need to learn more about something or it is well explained, you have to do research to start understanding it. How: Important inquiries into and explanations of behavior and attitudes typically involve "how." To narrow your focus, consider whether research topics are best addressed with primarily quantitative data instead of qualitative information (Creswell & Creswell, 2017). It is essential to look for specific keywords in research questions that require qualitative or quantitative data to answer the inquiry. Although both study questions may contain these words, some appear more frequently in one than the other (SAGE Publications, 2020). Terms that convey quantitative operations include desire, time, or "Why," "explain, or "describe" are terms that are generally better addressed. Responses to some words, such as "discover," "understand," and "expect," can combine the two. Use these terms as a reference to choose how you will answer research questions rather than as suggestions. Selecting the proper keywords allows one to determine whether the research is qualitative or quantitative. The main element would be that qualitative research concerns subjective meanings (i.e., the quality of something). In contrast, quantitative study works with figures (i.e., the quantity about something) (i.e., the quantity about something). In addition, the choice of words typically allows one to answer the research questions since they may be more closely associated with numerical data or provide a more subjective human interpretation (Creswell & Creswell, 2017).
