what is your opinion? I consider all regulations are made for the benefit of children. However, the world of media only wants to make a profit from whatever they are selling. These regulations will be going on all the time. Because everything should be based what is appropriate for children and their development. Studies will be going on as soon a problem is detected. From there, a review is done on wherever the problem came from. After the review is done, a regulation is put into place. I feel regulations are trying to implement a balance that accommodates people's fears or complaints of what their children are watching. Also, regulations are made to protect and the wellbeing of children. However, the reality is that broadcasting companies want to have a product that is attractive to children. Nowadays the importance of diversity and how to be aware about others plays a big role. Broadcasting should include different races, genders, people with special needs and have programs that has other languages. I feel that this will benefit children and be in their best interest. Advertising more about different family types will help the acceptance of new roles, as the awareness will break a lot of stereotypes. I feel that my own family, culture and community needs to be exposed to different types of representation in media. Media representing different ethnicities, race and genders, with disabilities or birth defects are important because they make us aware of the differences in those around us. They make us more accepting towards those who are different than us. For example, being exposed to media that deals with disabled people might make us more willing to accommodate and help them in the real world. The same could be said for representation of immigrant families dealing with a cultural or language barrier.
